Epson 4900 image centering
« on: June 09, 2011, 12:11:57 pm »

I have had this printer a few weeks and love it.  The only initial problems were getting the settings right,  and then manual loading, a problem helped by Mark Segal (thanks).  Only one small  problem -- on Ilford 13 x 19,  the image comes out hugging one of the longer edges,  even though it looks right in the gridded setup.  Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong ? I have the setting at Super A3/B,   Thanks. Geoffrey James

Try the paper setting Super A3 sheet maximum. That should fix it. If it doesn't let us know. I assume you have "centered" checked in the Photoshop Print GUI.

After I had left the house, I realized I hadn't specified the program, which is Lightroom 2,  which came with the Leica M9. Duh !  Thanks, Mark, I will try it out.  It works perfectly with 17x24 paper,  though.

On the Print Dialogue there is a button "Printable Area"  select "Maximum and Centered".  This printer is new to me and I am still only printing 8.5 x 11 and found this solved the centering problem.  I would like to know if this works on the larger papers.  I set up a preset with this and selecting preset then paper does not override the settings whereas the Quality High Speed Off will get overridden by paper selection.

Sheet-Maximum in the Epson driver and Centered in the Photoshop Print dialog works for me with 13*19 inch and 17*22 inch sheets as well.

Is that using the Printable Area Button?

I don't see a "printable area button" in the Mac version of the Photoshop Print Preview or the Epson 4900 driver. I select "Centered" in the Photoshop Print dialog and "Sheet-maximum" in the Epson driver, and that produces centered prints, any sheet size.
