E-30 won't recognize CF card
« on: June 07, 2011, 01:16:30 am »

Just like that, it quit, fortuneately the day AFTER a shoot. I've tried two different brands of CF cards and the camera won't recognize either. The lame XD works fine
If any have any experience with this and can send a suggestion I'll be ever thankful.
otherwise its off to the repair shop
thanks

Can you see if a pin in the CF slot is bent?  Only thing I could think of doing would be to try hard reset of the camera before you send it in.  Try asking the question on the forums at http://forum.fourthirdsphoto.com, the people there have experienced just about very problem one can have with an Oly DSLR and are a helpful bunch.

Thank-you
It "seems" that I fixed it, so for others that might encounter this problem... I turned off the camera, left the CF card in place and removed the XD card. Turned on the camera and voila, CF is recognized, and continues to be so when XD card is replaced.
go figure

Rusty, I have an E-620, but I think they work the same.  If you have both cards in the camera and take the CF out and turn the camera on before inserting the CF card, the XD becomes the default.  You can go to info, and you will see the cards at the bottom left of the screen.  Go into the info menu and highlight the cards, and you can select the CF card as the default.
