Canon 1d Mark IV and UDMA cards
« on: June 01, 2011, 03:02:53 am »

I have a 1d4 on order and was curious about the UDMA thing. I am familiar with card speed and obv more is better. I see UDMA 6 cards that are 100x and 200x and 400x speed. So is this different or what than the cards speed?

Depending on card brand, if you notice that in your style of shooting you need to freqently wait for the frame buffer to empty before you can shoot on, then it may help to get a faster card. Check Rob Galbraith's database for clues. Other than that, it's more noticeable when unloading the data from the card to your computer (assuming the cardreader is not a bottleneck).

Cheers,
