Stack LCC's in Capture One?
« on: May 19, 2011, 12:28:46 PM »

Applying LCC's In C1 appears to be a one shot deal, but I'd like to be able to layer them. For example, if I shoot with my Tech cam, I want to be able to apply a lens correction to correct for color cast and light falloff. I do this using the reference file that I've made and stored as an LCC calibration file. Next, if I have an landscape image with a bright sky and a dark foreground, I'd like to use the recovery feature that is built into the lens correction panel: I make a reference file from the image I am working with, and with 'Light Falloff" checked, adjust the Light Falloff slider down to open up the dark foreground, then adjust exposure and saturation to recover sky information.

The rub is that if I've done the first step, when I make the LCC file for recovery in the second step, it replaces the LCC applied in the first step. I want BOTH! Any ideas?

Thanks

Final version w/ LCC for recovery, but no LCC for light falloff or color cast:

I had the same thought when we first wrote about this topic on our blog. It's not possible to do today.

I have the impression the HDR via LCC in Capture One was not a fully foreseen usage of the LCC tool. Since the math is already done, and the usage has been very popular (as gauged by discussions with our customers) it's very reasonable to expect a dedicate HDR tool using the same general math (surely tweaked for the new purpose) in the future.

When that future might be, or how that tool might look is anyone's guess. If you ask Phase directly I'm sure they'll say they don't comment on future versions of Capture One.  ;D

I find it enormously helpful with my wedding photography and landscape work.

Thanks Doug

I trust that you'll be lobbying at Phase for the inclusion of this in the future.

You trust correctly.

But bear in mind that major new features requiring new user interface elements often have to wait for major releases. I don't know more than I'm letting on and don't want to get hopes up.
