Rendering Intent for B&W
«

Printing out of LR 3.4, I typically use the relative rendering intent for color prints.
My question is, does the rendering intent make a difference with B&W images?
FYI, I print with an Epson 3880 on Ilford GFS.
Thanks!

Philip,
I never really thought about it, with B&W i just used perceptual.
If I remember I'll try relative the next time. Food for thought anyway.

Phil
Eric Chan uses perceptual for his 3800 profiles - and he should know.

It depends if the source is a monochrome or an RGB image.
Since rendering intent concerns how out of gamut colours will be interpreted, with a B&W rendition its irrelevant.
But if your file is in RGB (and not just luminance data) then even though it's in monochrome rendering intent
may
play a role if there are out of gamut colours in the data.
In the end, I wouldn't worry about it.
