Uses for empty paper rolls?
« on: May 18, 2011, 04:25:55 pm »

Kinda off topic... but has anyone come up with uses for the empty paper rolls?  I just finished off a 10" roll and the roll core is pretty heavy duty.  Seems a shame to just through it out.  Are these recycled by anyone?

Use mine for shipping roll prints to customers.

My kids like to wrap them in colorful duct tape and use them as play swords.

Jam in reject prints to seal one end.  Apply several heavy coats of Glamour II.  Use as flower pots.  Or lay them on the floor and roll them underneath your back for a great massage.

Otherwise a couple times a year I take them down to a non-profit public arts center along with all my scrap Gatorfoam trims and canvas short-ends.  They love 'em, great bases for sculptures.  Senior centers would probably like them too.

I use mine for packaging rolled prints for local delivery to customers (I use ULine shipping tubes for mailed items). If I have extras I toss them in the recycle bin.

I use them for sword fighting with my part-timer and to whack things. My girls use them as giant telescopes. Great Stuff!

They make great Doot-Dah-Doos. Walls of Jericho, old aunts and dogs get really annoyed

I sometimes stand 4 of them on end, place a piece or 2 of foamcore on top of them and use the table to catch prints as they exit the z3100.

They’re not bad as a launch pad for bottle rockets, either.

I used my first empty tube to roll my new paper roll the other way to counter the curl in it -  before I cut it into sheet sizes

Now this could be useful.  You glue them together and use them to store rolled up canvases!  The pyramidal shape is optional, more squarish things are possible I'm sure.  3" cores highly recommended, sorry BC!

As baseball bat?
Build a fence?

To be serious; I can recycle mine when deposit them in "For Recycling Corrugated Paper".
At least here in Sweden.

I keep one to remove the protective sheet on acrylic.  Peel one corner up and use the roll to "unroll" the protective sheet (sticky side stays out as you roll).
