One for Russ
« on: May 14, 2011, 03:49:22 am »

Hi Russ

I have attempted several different links to this, but none works.

If you write (taylor mali poem) without the brackets, in the yahoo or google box and then, when the page comes up, click onto the video picture that has 'limbs' written on it, you will have some fun.

Sorry I can't find a link that works, but its worth the hunt!

Rob, Unfortunately the version of Flash Player I need for this one doesn't run on my 64 bit Windows 7 machine, and Adobe hasn't yet come up with a version that does. Before the day is over I'll try to get some time on my XP machine and take a look.

Thanks for that  - I had no idea how to do this sort of thing smoothly! As you can imagine, the digital age and I have our tense moments.

I've got Vista on the internet computer - I'm told its a bit of a bugger too.

Anyway, you may remember my posting a shot here recently of my olde Escort and its Americana influences which gave rise to some ribald remarks about Hollywood escort agencies.

I suppose this opens me up to even more Heidi Fleiss remarks, but it looks pretty unique here in Spain...

Next step, if I can manage it, will be Dixie on the roof.

So glad I rescued it from the dealer's forecourt! Shouldn't have even thought about dumping it.

;-)

Russ,

There's hope... and a way

"To install Flash Player, use a 32-bit web browser on your 64-bit operating system. All major browsers are available in 32-bit versions, and the Internet Explorer 32-bit browser is the default browser on Windows 64-bit systems.

Note: You can download a preview release of Flash Player with the codename "Square." This release includes full support for 64-bit web browsers on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux computers from Adobe Labs (http://labs.adobe.com). The preview release works with 64-bit web browsers, so you do not need to use a 32-bit browser as described in the instructions below.

Click here for instructions to install the current 32-bit Flash Player on a 64-bit operating system'

I was thinking more in terms of the General as seen in the Dukes of H. Not Ford, there, but who the hell here in Spain knows that or cares? But a cup on the roof? Isn't that a CSI Miami stunt, along with standing sideways, taking off and then putting back on the sunglasses? The latter trick is difficult for me now because the legs of my very old Polaroids have sprung outwards; sometimes, when I put them on, one leg misses my ear completely and they pivot down the side of my face (the legs).... guess it would be worse if the legs were pointing inwards, though.

I did buy a pair of Aviators in Gibraltar once, and had to take them back before we sailed away; they kept making me think I was about to take a step upwards, when in fact the pavement was perfectly flat. The other RayBans I took in exchange turned out to be just as bad, really, but when the thieves broke open the doors on that Escort some years ago, the only thing they stole was those replacements that I kept forever sealed in their wallet in the glove-box; I suppose that was poetic justice: one of those mothers who savaged the car will almost certainly, by now, have broken his ankle wearing them. That was a lousy deal: the insurance paid the price of two doors in exchange for a pair of sun glasses.

Bought a Dixie towel in Florida, once - does that count somehow? Apart from the flag on the roof, I'm figuring how to install twin aerials on the back; there's very little room on the trunk wings - probably have to drill down through the spoiler and then the whole thing might fall off. The stress, the stress...

Blame it all on klrzfm.com.  'Monnette Monette, coquette coquette, c'est si bonne' is just being sung as I type... love that Cajun style!

Just shows you how absorbed (no pun intended) one can become with computers: I'm tuned in to it, but I can't for the life of me remember having heard a single world about floods and evacuation. Maybe the station's working on an automatic programme and all the folks from Larose have already gone? Oh Noah, where are you when you're needed?

By the way, the bit above about Dixie is just a joke: no way would I get involved in other folks' politics out here, and the colour implications deeper in the theme are not my scene at all. I try to avoid confrontation and, hell, I love 'black' music anyway! But the twin aerials are for real if I can figure a way. Or find them: I used to have a beautiful, long Motorola three-section one on the tail of my '59 Ford Popular and it was bent into a right angle when I rolled the car in the snow. Not the car - it just popped a rear side window and my eight-months pregnant wife ended up sitting on my head, but it all worked out well in the end, and all I had was a scratched nose. But that flag is a lovely design...

Russ,

Good point, Degrub. I'd forgotten that I have 32 bit Firefox on this machine. I switched to it and was able to go through the performance.

Rob, It's a hoot. Thanks. As I guess you know, the guy's hitting on a sore point of mine. People really are becoming more and more inarticulate. For instance, nowadays few seem to know the difference between the verb to lie and the verb to lay. I could give a couple dozen more examples, but ... like... it's hardly worth while.

A math professor to his class: "How many times shall I tell you that there is no such thing like a "larger half".. a half is a half... but what's the point of telling you that when the larger half of the class is not present today" ;)

Just when I'd thought it was all fixed, I realise there is no such button my screen. Maybe one has to sign up to youtube to get that - I sign up to almost nothing!

And referring back to Cajun: I tried klrzfm.com just now, 09.15hrs in Spain, and silence. They are showing a fancy motion pattern, but that may be from the streaming service, for all I know. Jeez, I hope they haven't all been washed out.

Never heard the name before; in case it's an invention of mine due to badly-fitting earphones, maybe he was actually singing "M'Annette, m'Annette...." Hard to ask him, now.
