yes and no...LR remembers the layout for printing but it does not remember that a specific picture was printed using such layout. This means that if, for instance, you printed a 3:2 image as 2:3, i.e. you found, when in the Print module, that a portrait output would be more interesting than a landscape one (of course you are printing only a part of the entire picture in this case), it will be impossible to reproduce the same output in the future, as there is no record about how the original image was positioned in the layout. The only way would be to make a virtual copy and crop accordingly, but this is another story......
and by the way, the most important question is if stretching the original picture in different ways produces a significant degradation of the final output....
