x-Rite EZcolor question
« on: April 30, 2011, 12:42:32 pm »

I purchased the epson 750 scanner and it came with silverfast as well as the EZcolor software for profiling the scanner using the included IT8 target. The problem I'm having is that the IT8 target that came with the software is numbered MONT45.2010.07 while the reference files the software installs end at MONT45.2009.09 and I get an error saying the colors are not matching.

Going to the X-Rite website and finding anything seems like a bad dream with no obvious place to download software updates for any of their software. Is there a better place to look ?
I find it pretty frustrating that a shipping product comes incomplete and does not perform the single function it is meant to perform out of the box.

Silver fast has a IT8 auto calibration feature but it only seems to work with their own IT8 target that has a barcode printed on it, a pretty shameless money grab for a company that does not even respond to e-mails requesting additional purchase information.

EDIT: I have finally located the target files in question on the x-Rite website but when I put them in the appropriate location (with the other targets)  on my system the additional files are grayed out and I'm unable to select them. Since they are regular text files I have opened them in the text editor and at first glance they appear identical to the older (selectable) text files in terms of syntax/header. I also checked permissions of the files and they are all matching. Any ideas what could be happening ?

Hi Larkis,

First allow me to apologize for the difficulty that you have experienced.

I have checked into this and found that the reference file download had become corrupted. I have replaced the affected reference file and reposted the download. If you could, please retry - the refernce file download is here: http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?ID=592&Action=support&SoftwareID=369. Or for your convenience, I am attaching just the file you need to this reply.

You can find addition EZColor support materials here: http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?Action=support&ID=592

And, you may always contact us at CMSupport@xrite.com.

Thank you,
Bob Binder

I also suggest that you update the Xrite software.
