Which macro rail do you use?
« on: April 17, 2011, 08:34:45 am »

Which macro rail do you use? Is it important to buy an expensive one? How should I decide which one to get?
Thanks!

You should choose a very good quality rail. Many cheaper rail will only cause you problems.
They are unsteady and hard to adjust perfectly.

You can buy a Sinar P2 used at a good price. Stay away from the more tiny systems for macro.
You need a heavy rail and a heavy camera-stand. Without this you will have problems with adjustments
and vibrations.

I use the one made by Cognysis. Fairly inexpensive and automated, less expensive than the all-manual one by RRS (which does have a phenomenal build quality BTW.)
