This is a great lens that I have been using on my D700 and getting great results
Smooth interface with the D700 Exposure Meter and easy to manual focus
Great copy with no slippage in the Zoom
Glass looks to be perfect with no visible dust or haze
Cosmetically the lens itself is a 9 out of 10
If you are not using the 70-200 because of weight or cost - this is a wonderful alternative
