Hi
I've been looking into buying a flatbed scanner but am a little confused by the resolution specs. How can a scanner be said to have a resolution of 800 x 1600 dpi; does this mean that on the sensor itself the pixels are rectangular? How does this then translate into the image produced, is there some kind of interpolation taking place and if so which of these numbers is nearer to the true resolution? I've looked on the net for answers but haven't been unable to find exactly what I want to know, I hope this question isn't too basic.
Thanks.
