I know Leaf used to do them for their backs, maybe they still do. Why the hell don't Phaseone??

I don't use the bling case that my p45+ came in, as I'm sure most people don't either.

I need a zip case that's almost the same size as the back but with a bit of padding in it.

Also, would be good to be able to buy it in the UK

Thoughts??

Speak to Peartree in London they might have some in stock. Or get one of those wrap-all neoprene sheets with velcros...

Which Tenba fits only a digital back perfect and snugly?

Per what I know Leaf no longer makes them. I can tell you what I did for my Leaf. After buying a large neoprene pouch made for notebook computer, I went to a tailor with outer dimensions of my back and a sketch. I had them make essentially same as the Leaf pouch out of simple neoprene, no padding (stitch on outside corners). Except in contrast to the Leaf pouch mine does not have a lid with zipper. Instead I had them make two of these, with one slight larger. Thus I put on one from the rear of back first, then the other from the front of back. The one that go on the rear of back has double neoprene at rear of back where I have cardboard to shield the large Leaf screen against impact.

It works great, and looks cheap. To make it look cheaper during travels and to better protect against humid and in case of accidental drop of my bag in water, I put the back with my custom made pouch in a large zip lock plastic bag. Chances are if any thief gets into my bag… they will leave my back but steal something else!

Added bonus to above, is that when I have my back mounted on camera, one piece of my pouch can be put on and even stretched to do so when Leaf battery is attached. It works.

Indeed if Leaf or Phase One makes a new puch, I believe this is the concept they should use...

I hope above helps :)

My Hasselblad 132C back came with a zippered case lined with foam on all sides. I don't know if new backs still come in those cases.

Anders, would you post a snapshot of your custom-sewn solution, please?

My suggestions are:

and/or

some sort of tupperware from the Container Store or Dollar Store.

I've seen a Mamiya one at B&H, although they don't actually stock it.

I currently use a wrap, but it's quite fiddly in windy weather and the velcro goes after while. Neoprene is ok, but not super durable or sturdy. Kodak use to do a great one.

Take a look at the Think Tank Trim Changer or Speed Changer bags. These are what I use to organize my digital backs in a larger bag and they handle a Phase One or Leaf back perfectly plus with the internal divider they allow me to store batteries and PC synch connect cables in there too.

I have the Leaf custom case also and it is a nice compact solution for carrying & storing the back but it fails for me in that it literally only holds the back and nothing else, i.e. there's nowhere to pack any batteries.

Simple but works. All need make is sketch for tailor with dimensions and use very slight larger for the one that go on outside of first. One half fits also on Mamiya 645 AFDIII when back is mounted. Pocket for cardboard to protect screen on my Leaf back.  :)

The netting on the side was big enough for 1 battery, a sync cable and a CF card...

Ok, let's just say that there is a small net pocket on the side but I challenge you to put a battery, sync cord and CF card in there and expect them all to still be there if you happen to carry that case around or invert it. I think I'll charitably call it 'minimalist'. :D But you are indeed correct that there is some storage.

What I'd like to be able to do would be store the back inside the case with a battery still on it ...

Actually I left out my favorite tailor modified pouch; the one for Leaf batteries. It is simple to have made. Found a neoprene pouch of correct width, essentially had tailor cut off closing flap and add stitches between each battery. Really keeps them organized and stored without abrasion against things in my camera bag, and quick to access  ;D

Unless when shooting I never keep batteries on my back.

what about this one?

http://www.basspro.com/Fishpond%C2%AE-Sweetwater-Reel-Cases/product/93333/-1340000

the small one(4x4x4.5" OD)

it should fit a DB, possibly with some room to spare.

not too expensive either at $16+shipping

I have had them from several brands and I still find the Leaf case the best there is. The smallest size with the best fit for a digital back. Indeed I could store a Sync Cable and CF card without loosing them. I would not dare to put a battery alongside it as well in fear of loosing the CF card because of the taller battery :)

If you can get one of those made by Leaf I really think you will be happy. I currently use it to store my Hasselblad back in it :) The ones made by Hasselblad are junk compared to the Leaf.

This might be the ultimate; www.pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1050

(or larger; www.pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1120)

The 1050 seem interesting. If anyone try it out please let know how fits a back.

Thanks!
