http://arcticlightphoto.no/video.htmWhen I was a kid in the 50's this is the kind of image we had visualize the Northern Lights. Most of the available illustrations then were very hung up on the concept of mandala-like symmetry, which of course is almost never the real case.
It's pretty wonderful how advancements in photo technology have informed us so much better about such marvelous things.
