Hi Sergio,

For such a question I can only tell you from Rio Grande down to the Guatemalan border.   just Kidding. Mexico is so big and has so much different landscapes that it is impossible to answer your question.

Where do you come from?

Where will you be? so I could name you some places. I live in Mexico.

Sergio,
I have worked a couple of years ago in Mexico, located near Coatzacoalcos, in the Gulf coast. I have visited many great places close by (say in a 500km radius...). In my mind, there are two such places that I will never forget:
1. Laguna Catemaco (between Coatza above, and Veracruz), a volcanic lagoon amidst dark volcanic peaks and luxuriant vegetation (Medicine Man movie was shot close by). Dawn there is simply magic;
2. Cascadas de Agua Azul. These waterfalls are close to Palenque, and are simply beautiful.
Mexico has much more to offer (you should check the book "Mexico, a higher vision", that displays a fantastic collection of aerial photographs), but these two places I will never forget. And the people are so friendly! Mexico city and environs are a mini-world in themselves, but of course Teotiuhacan and the Anthropology Museum are a must. And the warm facades of the Zocalo at sunset are somethinhg to remember.
Just enjoy.

I will be travelling to Mexico for a shoot for some days. Once I finish my commercial work I am planning to stay for a few more days and travel. I would like to know what are good locations for landscapes, documentary, etc photography?
Any experiences with equipment, etc. I speak fluent spanish so language is no problem. All advice welcome. Thank you very much.

I come from Bogota, Colombia. I will probably end my clients shoot in Mexico City, which is where I will start my own trip. I have no appointments there so anyplace to start would be great. My plan would be to travel Mexico for about 15 days.
Is film expensive in Mexico? How much does it cost to develop a 120 roll in E-6? The film I would be using in my client's shoot would probably be Kodak EPP 120 proofing with FUJI FP-100 instant film. It would be great if I could buy film there and develop there to avoid the hassle with airline regulations since I would probably be carrying around 300+ rolls. I would really appreciate your help RS. Thank you very much,

Sergio.

Since you will already be in Mexico City, if you have any interest at all in ancient history, the ancient city of Teotihuacan (on the outskirts of Mexico City) is a great location for photography (or just visiting!).  There are large pyramids and other interesting architecture in very good condition, which is impressive considering how old it is (mostly built around 200 AD or so).  Allow at least several hours to wander around the major portions of it.

As an example, you can see one of my snapshots of it at:
