Silver halide inkjet printing ??? (Salt prints with inkjet)
« on: March 06, 2011, 04:19:46 am »

I just had this idea and wanted to ask if anyone of you has yet tried this or
heared of - I'd guess someones has already done it:

Take a paper and soak it with salt solution (NaCL) and let it dry.
Make an "ink" with silver nitrate and print with an inkjet on the prepared paper, which creates silver chloride.
Expose (well - if you print at normal light it is exposed) an develop classicaly.

Could this work?

Another variant:
Prepare black paper with sodium sulfate and print with a solution of barium chloride,
which should generate barium sulfate after the print, so you could print white on black.

Suggestions, ideas?

I do net yet own a printer, but once I have one I'll definitely try this out.

Cheers
~Chris

If it has to be an inkjet printer check the DIY guys that try to create instant PCBs by squirting silver solutions on surfaces with an inkjet printer. They face similar issues with printer heads.

met vriendelijke groeten, Ernst
