New 27" EIZO Monitor
« on: February 28, 2011, 11:12:50 pm »

Thought you all might like to know about a new, bigger EIZO monitor that has been announced today. The CG275W is a 27" model with a screen res of 2560x1440 and a 10bit display if you have the right video card. I've got a pre-production sample sitting on the desk in front of me and it's really, really nice. Production models should be shipping in April, mine in on order already. I have written a few comments here:

CG275W

I was not sure about the 27" size, being used to a CG243W,  but now I've been using it for a while I have found it to be a very usable size, not too big at all. I think the big 30" models might be too large for comfortable use but I guess that a personal thing.

I am interested to hear more on how this new monitor compares to NEC's new offerings - which on paper at least offer a larger gamut (albeit by a tiny percentage). Have Eizo announced more realistic pricing to compete with NEC for this screen?

P.S. (without hijacking this thread) Nick: Whats up with the last few (in particular the current issue) Better Digital Camera mag? Are you guys having trouble getting submissions? I think I got to somewhere around page 40 before I finally got to an article you hadn't written!  ::)

I wish them the best, but I'm afraid too little, too late and too expensive. The CG243W was kind of a disappointment for me.

What's 'disappointing' about the CG243W? It does just about everything a really good monitor needs to do.

Timely when a little birdie just told me the new PA 30" SpectraView II from NEC is available in the US (on its way to distributors). Don't know the price.
