Camera profile as output profile from raw development
« on: February 27, 2011, 10:32:10 am »

Hi

I tried to follow Guillermo Luijks advice to use my own camera profile rather than ProPhoto for output from the raw converter.

http://www.guillermoluijk.com/tutorial/dcraw/index_en.htm
go to "Photoshop adjustments of the developed image"

The screen shots shows the histograms as displayed by Raw Developer. Tifs opened in my editor (PhotoLine) show the same difference in histograms.

Visually, the image with my profile shows detail deeper down into the shadows. Is there anything beyond this which can be read out of the histograms or the numbers?

(Unlike GL, I did not develop without CM. In Raw Developer, disabling the CM would disable the deconvolution sharpening as well. Instead, with the kind help of RD author Brian Griffith, I modified my camera profiles to work as both input and output profiles.)

Thank you for your comment.
Hening.
