Why no 3rd party Pentax 67-645 adapters?
« on: February 23, 2011, 04:04:09 pm »

I have a 645D and a bunch of 645 lenses. I cannot find a Pentax 67-645 adapter. Said adapter would allow me more choices in the used lens market. With the popularity of the 645D and a run on 645 used glass, it would seem benificial (and profitable) for a 3rd party to make such an adapter, such as Photodiox. Is the 645 mount still under patent?

Thanks

Hi!

Pentax is making one that is said to be available in Japan.

Best regards
Erik

The Pentax adapter used to be widely available only a while ago - KEH used to have multiple copies in EX condition for $185.  So probably the 3rd party makers did not see the needs / market.

Of course now the situation is totally different, but from time to time it does show up on eBay and craiglists, sometimes offered with 67 lenses.

Hi Lepig: I know adapters used to be inexpensive, and plentiful. Used 645 lens prices have gone out of site, but 67 lens prices are still reasonable.
