Epson 2880 & Snow Leopard
« on: February 22, 2011, 06:17:15 pm »

I read the earlier post on the same topic and hoped it would solve my problem, but it didn't .

I am experiencing dark prints from my Epson 2880 using LR 3 or CS3 and Snow Leopard. I have been a very successful printer with the 2880 and a 3800 in the past (monitor calibration, etc.) for sale and for gallery shows.

Until now. (I can't test Snow Leopard on the 3800 because I am in Mexico and the 3800 is not.)

All of the prints are coming out 1.5 to 2 exposure values darker than the image on my monitor. I didn't load the Apple Driver update. I trashed all related Epson software and reloaded the new driver today.

Printing through LR 3 is a definite improvement, although it is not spot on with what I see on the monitor. Maybe 1/2 EV darker.

I'm am stumped.

Help!

Maybe 1/2 EV darker.

That’s where this may help:http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/why_are_my_prints_too_dark.shtml

That said, Photoshop and LR should print identically although you are not the first to report issues. Now CS3 is kind of old and I believe using a different printing path than LR3.

I was having the same problem.  Two days ago Software Update alerted me to install new Epson printer drivers for 2880 printers using Snow Leopard.  After installation, presto, prints match the monitor again.  I was beginning to despair of ever figuring out how to make prints of the quality I have always expected from a fully profiled system.  Now I'm back in business.
