Import frustration
« on: February 19, 2011, 09:12:07 pm »

I am pointing LR to 2 folders on a  thumb drive that contain photos I want to Import.  I select all the photos and select the  destination folders in where i want to copy them to.  The images on the thumb drive appear but ALL are grayed out and the Import button is not available.

This is not the first time this import difficulty has occurred.

What is going on and how can I fix??

Perhaps LR thinks the photos are already in the catalog. Are there photos with the same names already imported?
Uncheck "Don't import suspected duplicates" option on the top-right side of the import dialog to see if that un-greys them.

So take a couple minutes more to separate the two operations. Move the files to the destination folder outside LR and then import using the Add option.

Lo and behold, when I opened LR today, all the images I tried to import previously were there!!!!--all 300 of them!!!

I am not sure what happened, but i suspect it may have something to do the importation of duplicates as suggested above--why they did not show up initially is still a mystery.
