As a new owner of a 4900 I was confused by the User Manuel info concerning the rotary cutter. It states that the cutter should not be used on thicker art and canvas media. According to Epson web help this is probably a cut and paste from a earlier model manuel, and that the cutter is indeed robust and capable of cutting thicker media... as reported by the DGT review. This certainly makes 300+ gsm roll stock easier to use. Most of the Epson documentation is excellent.

Epson generic profiles for x900 models, are available separately for each model.
But several RIP's do use the same for all x900 printers. E.g. ImagePrint.
Just try and test them.

On install, all the profiles for the latest Epson papers, Exhibition Fibre, Hot and Cold Press, were installed off the software CD.

Chocodog probably wanted to know if you can
use
the 79/9900 profiles on the 4900 printer.
You don't get any Canson or Hahnemühle or Eric Chan profiles on installation. Right?
Can you "mix" profiles for third party papers and custom made profiles for the x900 series?
Yes you can. As long as you use the same settings.
