Good Hiking Camera?

Is this the "weatherproof" camera that Olympus sells?
There is a deal going on through the end of April or May, at Office Depot, Canon A60 for $99 after rebate. May not be "weatherproof", but then again, it's $99

I received the following from Olympus America:
"The lens is the same for both the C-50 and C-60.
The Olympus C-60 will have the same battery life as the C-50. The C-60 uses TruePic Turbo technology which speeds up the imaging process. You also get an additional 1.1 megapixels."
I emailed Olympus America to find out whether I could take better landscape and nature pictures than with my C-50. I have been trying to determine whether there is a better camera for under $500 to take on my hiking trips. I like the C-50 better than the Canon S-400 because the C-50 has the manual aperture and speed setting feature.
Does anybody have any other suggestions for small, carryable cameras?
