Profiling Apple Cinema Display with PC
« on: February 16, 2011, 05:35:33 am »

The only hardware setting for ACD I can change is the brightness - the other adjustments aren't available with a PC. However, I could change contast within NVidia control settings - however, using these controls would seem to override the monitor profile (Huey Pro in my case). Is this correct, and do I really need to adjust more than brightness prior to profiling anyway?

PS don't think Huey Pro that good anyway, thinking of Color Munki.

If the only true physical control over the display is the backlight intensity, and the other adjustments are not happening high bit in the panel, best to start off with a native gamma and white point and see if you get a good match. If not, OSD controls used only add to more banding but could lead to a closer match to the print, a more important adjustment. I’d leave the card settings alone for the time being.
