Abstracts in Black and White (not a landscape)?
« on: February 11, 2011, 08:18:10 am »

Hi all,

I took these a while ago, I like abstracts but I realise they are not to everyone's taste, what are your thoughts on these and this kind of imagery?

These are great, I love this sort of minimalist/semi-abstract work.

That first picture (10.jpg). The one  I would love to have taken...

+1

Anything with the words Gug. has been done to death, like that collection of slipped and crumpled tin disks in Bilbao.

They're very good. I like the minimalism and particularly the first shot.

All three are very good. #2 is good enough to appear in a promotional brochure for the Guggenheim. Excellent work.

All very very nice images. The first one though is just sublime. Well done.

Nicely done, but I'd like the first one better if the gray bar (ceiling?) at the top was removed.  I'm not talking about cutting it off, just making it a seamless white to the top of the frame.

Hi all,

Thanks for the kind words, I've had these images languishing on my work PC for quite a while now and everyone who saw them, didn't seem to appreciate them, so I sort of gave up trying to do this kind of thing, but if you like them, then I feel inspired to try and do a few more.

Thanks again.

I like them, and I think Mike's suggestion is a good one. Making the upper area match the lower one in tonality will strengthen it, IMHO.

Another applause (even if it's a landscape sensu lato)!

In the same broad genre, you may be interested in Gianni Galassi's work : http://giannigalassi.typepad.com/ .
