Canon, Nikon lenses attached to MF digital backs?
« on: January 30, 2011, 02:53:07 pm »

I am just wondering whether if it is possible to use Canon, Nikon (35mm) lenses attached to MF digital backs?

Yes it is. There are a few cameras which would allow this. Only makes sense for lenses with sufficient image circle.

Yes, the Hartblei, and the Sinar M, and I think there are view cameras which can also be set up to do this. Even a Mamya 645! (see http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/771979/0 )

I use the Hartblei with 24mm and 17mm aswell as with the 85mm 1,4 Nikon and 80mm Kiev, some Leica Telel lenses (135+1o80mm). They all perfeorm great. The 24mm I also use fully shifted on a 39Mp back and that is as good as it gets. Here are some images shot with the 24mm.
Great viewfinder, all lenses in all mounts can be used ( mamiya, Nikon, Canon, leica, kiev, zeiss jena, pentax, hasselblad.... everything that accepts a Canon adapter will fit the Hartbleicam. Most tele lenses have sufficient image circle, Canon 17 has and the 24mmII has plenty to use shift and tilt.
