What is Intel RST Service?
« on: January 29, 2011, 05:44:44 pm »

I do not have any drives in a RAID array. In my task bar I have an icon for "Intel RST Service."  I read the help file in the application, and as usual I can't figure out whether I should have it activated for any or all of my internal or external drives, or find a way in its Preferences file to make it go away.

I'm running an i7 930, several internal hard drives and a pair of external hard drives.  What would this RST do for me, if anything?

Hi Walter,

I found that when I installed the latest drivers for the Intel controller on my mainboard, i trippled the speed of my raid, from 200 mb/sec to over 600mb/sec (3x SSD's)

I was able to install the drivers without any damage to my data.

That sounds good.  Again, though, since I do not have any RAID drives, my question is still this:  What would RST do for me, or should I deactivate it?
