Bridge Cachet stops me from backing up folder
« on: January 27, 2011, 06:15:26 pm »

Im desperately trying to maek a safety copy of the contents of a folder containing a web site due to launch in the next several days , on starting to copy the folder to another drive I get the MAC message that I can not do so due to the existance of a bridgcachet already exxisting on that drive.

Im at my wits end

Is there a fix for this problem?

My guess is that you're using a drive formatted to allow for upper-case characters in file names, and the drive you're trying to copy to is not formatted like that.

I have no idea.

I cant find the file named .BridgeCachet so Im more or less stumped aside from copying single files or groups until I run into the same roadblock.

Thanks

Does the drive you are trying to write to have Ignore ownership on this volume clicked on? (when you command I click on the drive). What are the read/Write privileges?

Your permissions seem fine...try creating a new destination folder on the other drive and copy the enclosing folder of the web site inside...

Try creating a "New Users" account and then copying the folder...

I took the long route copying groups of ten to twenty files at a time.

I deleted the entire cache within bridge, hoping that doing so would be productive, it wasn't.

There does not seem to be a direct way to access the .bridgecacheT files to delete them.

Thank you.
