Product Review: Media Clips/SpeedClips for roll paper
« on: January 24, 2011, 01:39:21 am »

I found a box of Media Clips in storage that I'd forgotten about from two months ago. Finally got around to giving them a whirl, and they're great. Since everyone here's into printing I figured y'all might like to see the review as well:

neil,

Good review. I do find the 2" clips handy for use on prints that have been cut from a roll. They are a great tool for transporting finished prints or handing proofs to a client.

Duh, should have checked to see if SOP had them too. They do: http://www.shadesofpaper.com/product_info.php?products_id=626, looks like it's the mixed pack?

Neil-

Your picture shows the clips placed outside the bag, but you mention putting the roll in the printer with the clips attached. Does this mean you place clips directly around the paper, since you can't remove the bag once the spindle is on  the printer? If so, no problems with the clips scratching the paper?

The Ilford rolls come with a paper wrap rather than a bag. So I can still insert the spindle, load it, and then remove the clips and protective paper once it's in the printer. For the other stuff I slice the bag down the length so I can do the same thing.

Haven't tried it directly on the paper. I'd do it with my canvas rolls and cheap paper, but not the Ilford GFS. If you look at GFS wrong it scratches :)
