Hi all,

Would any of you fine people be able to let me know where I can source the large format studio tripods.
The ones with the adjustable boom/arms etc...

Please see attached image for an idea of what I am talking about.

Kind regards,

It's called a "camera stand". With that phrase you can search for them on the web site of your favorite camera store (say, B&H), and find lots of (expensive) choices.

I see them on Craig's List (NYC) all the time, a lot of people are selling them as they move away from large format. Calumet still sells them too. I still enjoy using mine with my Canon. I like the kind that use a foot pedal to activate the wheels. And it's usually referred to as a camera stand.

I currently have an extra Cambo stand. It is 9' tall and has the geared head as well. $900 plus shipping and crating.

Where are you located? I'm in Maine.

A studio stand (or camera stand) is so much easier to use than a tripod that it's required equipment for any serious studio work. You can pick up a decent stand for less than $1000. More money gets you more height (important) and more rigidity (also important), plus easier handling and more repeatability with engraved markings, etc.
