HI, does anyone know how long the maximum length is that the Epson 9900 can print?

Meanwhile we are at a stage that you can print to the end of a roll on recent printer models. I don't think the 9900 will be an exception on that. Qimage's poster/tiles function usually can help when there are limits in drivers for roll printers.

A Quote from Epson's Website.

"The maximum printable page length is 90.5 inches when using the Epson printer driver. This may vary depending on the application, operating system, and driver/RIP being used. Using a RIP may allow you to exceed this limit as well."

I've printed longer than 90.5 inches, uisng the Epson printer driver under Mac OS X.

My success with Lightroom on long prints has been mixed: there is a maximum number of pixels in the long direction with Lightroom, but I can't find out what it is. It's less than 30,000 pixels (strictly speaking, pels), but I only find out when a print job fails (the way it fails is that the printer spools out the nominal length of the print, but doesn't actually print anything. If you have cutting enabled, the printer will cut off the blank length as well).

From Photoshop I've been successfull with prints up to 30,000 pixels in the long dimension, and about 12 feet long. Some folks say that you can print more pixels in the long dimension from Photoshop, but I haven't yet tested with more than 30,000 pels long.

That's not correct.
Epson manual says 15,24 m, that's around 50 feet or 600 inches.
With ImagePrint RIP you can print 1200 inches, 100 feet.
Then you have to control the maximum pixel amount and if you use the driver; how much can your system swallow in terms of
Gb and RAM. Which isn't that important when using a RIP.

Hers is a link to the quoted information:

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&infoType=FAQ&oid=119098&prodoid=63079720&foid=125995

This is on the US epson site. Since your manual lists meters I assume you are in Europe. Looks like Epson America and Epson Europe are listing different limits.

The Quote does say when talking about the limit "This may vary depending on the application, operating system, and driver/RIP being used. Using a RIP may allow you to exceed this limit as well."

Looks like the real answer is it can vary a lot depending on you particular situation.

I see the link doesn't work.  Go to Epson US site, look under drivers and support for the 9900 then under FAQ's. It is the number 1 frequently asked question.

Well, it's the same printer and driver we both use.
