Did I just get ripped?
« on: January 15, 2011, 06:37:53 pm »

I just purchased a Rolleiflex 6008 Integral II Kit without Lens for 2400.00$. It's new in the sealed box. Just curious if I just got ripped a new one. The one on BHphoto is 3400 but it's AF. Does that mean the Integral II doesn't have AF? does anyone know where I can find a model timeline?

Thanks
Also if anyone has suggestions for good lenses that'd be great.

Yeah, pretty much. I just sold an integral I body that was like new (boxed) for $615 (no charger or battery) The model II should probably sell for no more than $900 for just the body.

The integral does NOT have AF. Only the 6008AF has autofocus

All the best,

Awesome, well I'm cancelling that deal. What about the AF how much should I be paying for it?

The dealer list price on the Integra II Kit without lens should be $2,206. So anything above that is certainly not a good deal. Of course, there are pre-owned units that can be had for less. The 6008 AF Kit without lens lists for $2,521.

You may also look at DHW Fototechnik's sales on a well-known auction site, where the Integral II body can be had for considerably cheaper - new for 999 euro incl of German VAT.

As we're on this topic...I've always admired the Rolleis but I've wondered: are all variants of the 6008 bodies equally compatible with all 6000-series lenses and Rollei-fit digital backs?

E.g. can one use the AF lenses on a non-AF camera, just for manual focus?

As far as I know yes, they even work on the Hy6.

Yes. Surely. And the Hy6 has good focus confirmation which makes the manual lenses easy....

The older non pq/pqs are a little buggy with the modern 6008/6003/6001 .  The PQS lenses should only be used with the 6001, 6003, 6008i 6008i 2, and 6008 af ( i may be missing a 6008 model here)  The pqs syncs up to 1/1000th and the earlier bodies can only go to 1/500th. Im not sure if the af lenses can be used on the mf bodies.

As far as compatibility - I've use very old lenses on my 6008i ...HFT versions I think from the SL-66 at least I think that was where they came from. No problems.....Only used for 1 job but worked well enough..

The above is correct, but can be stated more simply:

1) older (pre 1990) non-PQ lenses can be used on newer models, but with a lack of features (fully manual, I think).
2) PQ lenses (lots of these were made) can be used as they are on any post-1990 camera, such as a 6003, 6008 (all models) and Hy6. Fully compatible. This is the main group of  lenses for these cameras. PQS lenses (fewer)  had higher shutter speeds.
3) AF lenses (and there are only about 5 of these.... ) need an AF body to function in AF. They can be used in manual mode on 6001, 6003 and 6008 also.
4) If a lens goes on a 6008, they go on a Hy6.

You can always check out Pascal's Rolleiflex pages for full details:

Several people have already replied with info on the lenses, but with regard to the digital backs:  The phase p20 only works with the 6008AF body and some of those need to be sent in to service for a small modification to keep the back from going to sleep.  The Sinar and ixpress and hasselblad CF backs can be fit to any 6000 series body that has the removable film roller frame on the back. To my knowlege that includes the 6003, 6008 pro, integral, integral 2 and AF models.   I don't know about Sinar backs in detail, but the hasselblad backs require a cable from body to back for everything except the 6008AF body which doesn't need one.

No only PQ or PQS lenses works on Hy6.
I tried one old 40mm lens that works on 6008, but did not work on my Hy6.

Yes the Hy6 have nice focus confirmation works also for manual lenses (I don't know how it is on 6008AF), but the price for Hy6 + 6x6 film back will be much more higher.
It is also possible attach sinar digital backs to 6008 AF.

Autofocus lenses is twice so expensive, than manual ones...

P.S. If You planing in future go for MF digital back, than probably it is worth to think about Hy6, if no then take the 6008AF (price / performance).
