slide show on flat screen TV

My company wants to install a large flat screen TV in the lobby for presenting current news and slide shows of projects. Can anyone suggest what this will involve as far as software to drive a slide show on the TV, and what type of pc to tv connection would be required for this. I still have a Sony trinitron tube tv at home, so am out of the loop.
