EOS TS-E lenses on 645D
« on: January 13, 2011, 05:17:45 pm »

Hi,
With the IQ of the new Canon 17mm & 24mm II version tilt/shift lenses being outstanding, I was wondering if their image circle was large enough to cover the sensor of the Pentax 645D. This would be using a EOS to Pentax adapter??? Maybe the angle of light from the 17mm might be too great.

Thanks, Richard

According to Canon, it has a 67.2mm image circle.

The 645D sensor is 33x44mm.  So the diagonal of the sensor is 55mm.  It looks like it could work, unless I did the math wrong.

The image circle is large enough but the distance to film plane will (probably) be too large.

The image circle of the 24mm is with almost fully shiftted enough to cover my 39 MP back on my HartbleicamHB1. It is extremely sharp and the nice thing about the HB1 is that i can easely switch between the 24mm, the 17mm(3mm shift), any canon, Nikon or leica telelens, a lot of great M42 lenses that cover the sensor, al my Hassy-V lenses, my Kiev lenses, my Mamiya lenses and even my Petzvall lenses. I now use the HB1 for 85 percent of my studio and 100 percent for architectural photography. It has a real GG, electronic shutter up to 1/4000 sec, is light and compact and accepts all back's and lenses. You should have a look at the HB1.

yes, the hartblei is an interesting camera. But it does cost an harm and a leg! The other problem is that your pentax will not be usable with that camera, you need a digital back...

The Hartblei is the cheapest solution on the market. It is the only body that accepts my 24MMTS/17mmTS but also my Nikon 85mm 1,4 ( a super lens, not matched by any other 85mm in MF), the great 300mm AIS for landscapes, the Hartblei super rotators, my FE 60/120mm zoom wich supposed to be the best in the world. A Arca or sinar etc can only be used for one pupose, the HB1 is so universal to use while remaining very specialised and dedicated to each job.
