Help selecting new strap for bag
« on: January 07, 2011, 11:27:54 pm »

I bought a Think Tank UD40 and don't like the strap.
It's not comfortable, and I need to hold it constantly to make sure it doesn't slip off my shoulder.
I'm not carrying much gear.

Have you tried UpStrap, or Op/Tech, or others?

I understand that the strap on the Retro series (10,20,30) is comfortable.

Appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks!

I had the same issue with my UD40. The pad is much too large and doesn't slide, so I can't easily move the bag from one shoulder to cross-shoulder carry, etc.

My solution was to get the shoulder strap that came with my Think Tank Speed Demon waist pack. It's narrow but padded, and has a sliding non-slip wrapper. MUCH better. You might contact TTP and see if they'll sell you one.

As for your other suggestions, the Retrospective strap is nice, but not removable. I use the Upstraps for my cameras, and I thought about the Upstrap for shoulder bags, but didn't get that far.

i use the Upstrap wide strap with my Thinktank Speedfreak.  Also don't like the Thinktank straps.

I had an Upstrap and didn't like it - mine was too stiff. I use an Optech strap (with the name removed  ;D).

Thanks everyone. Straps are so simple and so essential.

Much appreciated.
