I think that if you stitch a hundred 300Mb files it would take longer, unless you have a very fast computer.
Well, not sure that it would take longer if you target the same pixel resolution. I would think on the contrary that stitching 100x24mp files (150 mb each) is probably slower than stitching 50x50mp files (300 mb each). Only a test would tell for sure though.
