Multiple cameras in one catalogue or separate?
« on: January 03, 2011, 04:02:44 am »

A question for others that use multiple cameras...

do you use one catalogue per camera or one catalogue for all of your photos?

One catalogue for all. Why fragment control of your work?

In your example of multiple cameras, LR lets you filter the catalogue by the body and serial number.

And as default develop parameters are always camera-specific and can also be set to be serial#-specific, there is really no need to do multiple catalogs.

One catalog. I don't see a solid reason to use more than one catalog for any reason. But regardless of that, there is at least one practical reason not to separate based on camera: Photos from the same shoot would end up in different catalogs if they were shot with different bodies, even if the images were of the same subject at the same time. That would only hinder a search later, not help.
