Projector questions
« on: January 01, 2011, 07:39:50 pm »

I'm thinking of getting a new Epson home theater projector which will only be used to project photographs. (I want the 1080p.) My question is this: the Apple MacBook Pro does not have an HDMI port, but does has a Mini DisplayPort, and I understand that there are MDP to HDMI adapters. Would this combo allow me to get the full 1080p resolution out of the projector? If I use a crop that is not the native 1080x1920, will I still have the benefit of higher resolution in the crop that I do use?

I'm not certain about the cabling, some Macspert will likely confirm it though.

In terms of projection, you will get the best results by cropping or resizing your image to fit natively with 1920x1080 and then projecting it, otherwise you're relying on either the display software or the projector to scale your image which isn't a great idea.
