FS: 120mm Makro-Symmar HM
« on: December 29, 2010, 09:26:46 am »

For sale is a 120mm f/5.6 Makro-Symmar HM lens in immaculate condition. The rear cap is missing, but I will protect the lens for shipping. This lens is ideal for product photography with digital backs, or for close work on film. At infinity, it will just about cover 4x5. The all-black Copal 0 shutter is in excellent condition.

Photos to follow.

81,000 JPY (990 USD) including EMS shipping and Paypal fees.

Thanks,
Kumar

I just checked, and it does work. Perhaps copying and pasting it into your browser might work.

Interesting. I command-clicked on it as before (to open the link in a new Safari tab), but this time it worked.
I previously had got a dialogue saying there were no public galleries available.

Does it have a No. 0 shutter? Would be delightful on my yet-to-arrive VX23D ...

Yes, it does have a Copal 0 shutter - the newer black version. It would be a great lens on any camera :)

I’m somewhat fiscally shattered after buying the VX23 and an Aptus 22, so am not in the market at this moment, unfortunately. It would make for an excellent small product lens. While the specs say it’s optimised for between 1:4 and 4:1 I bet it would still be very good if you used it not too far outside those parameters.

Just for a laugh, have you used it at infinity?  :P

I was actually looking to get the Aptus, but you were quicker :)
How will you get the best out of your VX23 and Aptus unless you put a great piece of glass in front of it? This lens is s-h-a-r-p, and at infinity will almost cover 4x5. I shot a few images with it, but most of my work is with wides, so it didn't get much use. Which is the reason for selling it.

I’ve bought a 45 Rodenstock to start with; not real wide but lotsa movement, so stitching should be fun.

Juliana, the seller of the Aptus, included a 67mm plastic diffuser intended for the AFD which will fit straight onto the 45mm so making profiles for the shifts to compensate in C1 should be easy.

What are you using at the moment digitally?

A Betterlight scanning back, a Hasselblad 132C, a Sinarback 43 HR and lots of film. I'm toying with selling the Sinarback since I don't need multi/micro-step, and the SinarCam is at its best in the studio.

You should ideally do LCCs for every shot.

Would love a Betterlight but don’t see it ever happening.

Don’t want to do the salt/wound thing but very happy with Aptus 22 results so far. Old Mamiya lenses are working surprisingly well.
