Old monaco ezcolor xr pro on win 7 64 system w dtp94 ?
« on: December 27, 2010, 06:08:01 pm »

Ok, my monaco xr pro w/dtp94 puck, worked fine on my vista 64 system but I just made a win7 64 pc. I googled and yes got win 7 to see/install the dtp94 but I can't use the ezcolor 2.65 software, which works on 64 bit. My old v2 software serial # won't work, has to be 2.5 or above. Any solutions or will I have to spring for a new profiling system ?

Thank, Bruce

Have you contacted XRite technical support yet or gone to their website. If not, I recommend you first check the website to see what is being supported and what isn't. Then depending on what you find, use their email support system. I have recently had issues with using legacy stuff on OSX and they have been very responsive. The news isn't necessarily good of course, but they do tell you where you stand as far as they know from feedback they've received and testing they've done.

Bruce, just occurred to me - when you call them - the problem could simply be that the serial number needs to be reset. If in their system it is already assigned to one computer, then you change computers and try to re-install it, it's possible that it won't activate unless the S/N is reset. Only they can do that - so do ask about this.

So the people at  x rite don't have a solution for me (called them) and say there are workarounds on the web that they don't recommend so I checked out thhe basic color and the software is is 119 euros or $156 us so I just got the i1 2 display for $200 just to simplify my life.....hopefully its as good as the optix xr pro....

The i1 Display 2 is a colorimeter. I thought you were having a software issue. What display are you using? Depending on the display the i1 Display 2 could improve profile quality, but there is still the software to deal with.

OK - should have known. My i12 came with Spectraview in the NEC display package, so I wasn't aware of how XRite bundled it. Hope it works out well for you.

It turns out the software I had (optix xr pro)was not the software that could have been used, ezcolor, I got befuddled between the 2 so just best to go for it. Also xrite is coming out with new pro software beginning 2011 and I'll be eligible for an upgrade if it looks good
