Last Wendsday Morning
« on: December 17, 2010, 02:11:32 pm »

There was cloudy but very colourful morning in Helsinki, but the contrast was so poor that camera captured only five stops of data with ND grad filter.
So I increased a little contrast in PS and adjusted the white balance.

The last one is particularly lovely.  It would be absolutely stunning in B&W, perhaps even with a slight blue tint.

#2 does have a great feel to it.  #3 reminds me of the (seven, so far) times I've gone through the ice - too many memories there!  #4 would be interesting to see in B&W too!!

Number 2 for me but the other 3 are worthy of the effort. Nice uncluttered compositions, yet at the same time plenty of detail.  :)

And even more stunning to behold down at Hollywood Beach!

;-)

Great shots - just having a local smile with/at? Toke.

the first image in the sequence is nice, but I said "wow" when I saw number two.

incredible light, it just glows, and the color is amazing.

your low camera angle gives the scene a great feeling of depth and dimensionality.

the near-abstract patterns in the ice are exquisite - I also notice that the reflected light from the sky leads the eye back to the horizon.

nice work!

I think 4 is by far you're strongest shot. Lovely simple graphic composition. I played around with it in BW and I agree that it looks really good, but than again so does it in color :)
