refill 3880 ink carts?
« on: December 06, 2010, 06:32:50 pm »

I'm used to buying my ink cheap/ml in the giant 11880 700ml carts, and as its the exact same ink as the 3880 uses, I'm balking at paying Epson's ridiculous prices for new small 3880 carts, and throwing the empties into the trash.

Is there a way to transfer ink from one to the other safely, like a syringe to suck it out of the 11880 carts and inject it into the 3880 carts, maybe?  I know a chip resetter is out there, so thats not the hard bit, but its a question of getting the ink from one to the other safely.  Anyone got experience with this?

Thanks.

Check out Ross Hardies (http://inkjetcarts.us/) refill system for the 3800/3800 including inks. After reviewing several similar systems' I chose his offer. I received the unit several days ago and am impressed with its robustness and quality.
As my 3880 carts empty I will swap in the refillables and reprofile my printer-paper 'stuff'. I have >decade refilling ad profiling my monitor, printer and papers.

For more info and comments check out dpreview.com and the inkjet printer forum (http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=5758&p=1) Quite a bit of info regarding this setup.

good luck  irv weiner

I believe there is a way to transfer 7880 or 9880 inks to 3880 refillable cartridge system.
I have seen someone using inkrepublic's R2400 CIS along with 4800 inks that he took out from 4800 carts.
the 3880 refill system from inkrepublic should be able to let you do that too.

you can purchase the empty system and stick with epson's K3 vivid inks, or if you want you can try Image specialists' ink (which is InkRepublic's IRK2 inks) or InkRepublic's IRK4-nano inks (it's a real good pigment inks) or jone cone's inks too (I have heard they got great 3880 inks).

the FAQ from inkrepublic should give you all the installation tips that you need as well as how you can load 3rd party inks to their iRefill cart.

just my 0.02 cent:)
