Expert sought
« on: December 01, 2010, 05:55:28 pm »

I've been asked to help in finding someone (in England) who could give an expert opinion for a court on whether some kit damaged in a road traffic accident is repairable or not, and to assist with the costs of repair / replacement / valuation. The kit comprises, I'm told:

- Mamiya RB67
- Metz 45 CL 4 Flashgun
- Seagull 4A-109
- Mamiya RB 180mm f4.4 Sekor KL lens
- Vogtnader Bessa III case

Can anyone help, or suggest someone who might be able to help? I expect there would be a fee payable for the advice.

You could always try Graham Playford in Bermondsey.

You might find that spares for some of that kit are hard to come by though.
Good luck.

I have just looked on eBay, and it seems that you could buy the camera and lens for £250 almost any week.

If the flash is compatible with the SCA interface, and so TTL compatible with modern cameras, it would, I would have thought be worth more, but I have not looked for one on eBay.

If the owner would not accept ¿£700? could the insurer replace the kit for that much?

Thanks. For some reason, eBay seldom occurs to me. I'll get some more details.

eBay cannot be an expert witness, but "anyone" can do some research on eBay and become an expert in a few hours.
