cs4/epson r2400/ snow leopard. print dialogue box not appearing

On mac os x running snow leopard using cs4 and trying to print to epson r2400.  after selecting file/print and updating the dialogue box by seleting 'document', 'photoshop manages color' and type of paper and pressing 'print', the print dialogue box does not appear that allows me to select the paper type, no color management, etc.  i have uninstalled the printer and then reinstalled the print drivers after upgrading to snow leopard (current print driver = v. 6.57).
 
Any ideas???

has the gimp/gutenburg driver been installed with the update?
maybe you need to uninstall the gimp driver and reinstall the epson one?

I was visiting a photographer recently who had a similar (not exactly the same) issue. 

In that particular case, the problem turned out to be the use of a USB1 cable.

When a USB2 cable was connected, all worked fine.

Might be worth double checking the writing on the shielding of the cable that is connected to the printer.

Many USB1 cables look like like USB2 cables.
