There's a decent little book, "Sedona Guide: Day Hiking & Sightseeing in Arizona's Red Rock Country" by Steve Krause & Teresa Henkle, with B&W photos of many of their recommended places, so you can take a look and see what appeals to you.

If you want my own opinions, the Boynton Canyon area is pretty spectacular, and has a good hiking trail.

I will be taking a trip out to Sedona Arizona this April and would be interested in any advice as to good photo locations there.  We have a 4wd truck and don't mind doing a little hiking.
