As I mentioned somewhere else, I have taken mostly landscapes and architectural work in recent years, but this summer started having a go at some people and candid subjects again. Last time I really got involved in this was some 25 years ago, so I think I am a bit rusty – the trouble with human subjects is that they do tend to move around rather and mess up your composition just at the critical moment. And the old ‘Blad is so slow to focus that by the time you have got everything lined up the moment has often passed. Not to worry, I’ve had some fun doing it, and it has been a nice change of pace. Here are a couple of snaps from a series I am putting together on the Cornish ferries. Our coastline is indented by numerous estuaries, and if there were no ferries a journey from A to B would often involve a lengthy detour by road alone. So our little passenger ferries serve a vital purpose and are very well patronised, especially in the summer months.
