Canon TC-80N3 Remote Timer
« on: November 13, 2010, 02:31:03 pm »

I am thinking about ordering a Canon TC-80N3 Remote Timer.  Can anybody confirm that it is compatible with a Rebel XTI?   Are there any similar products that I should be considering?

I am Canadian but would be ordering it from B&H.  Local cost is $275, B&H cost is $155.

Thanks

no I don't believe it is compatible with the rebel series.  What are you looking to do with it?  For timelapse there are third party units, I have one from Opeka(sp?) that you can search for on Amazon, or you can modify the TC-80N3 to have the mono plug that the Rebels require, although why ruin a unit that cost $155.  Canon does have remotes for taking single frames for the Rebel, again look at how it connects to the Camera - Rebel needs that mono plug

Link below is from Canon web-site for accessories for the XTi - does not list the TC-80N3 for your camera

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/eos_slr_camera_systems/eos_digital_slr_cameras/digital_rebel_xti#SuppliesAndAccessories

I have the TC-80N3 (works with my 40D), my son has an XSi (1 generation newer than the XTi) and no way the TC-80N3 can be used on his camera.

Hi Scot,

Just when you thought you saved some money ...  ;)

There is an alternative for the EOS 400D / Rebel XTi / Kiss X.
