Irish part of my backpacking tour of Wales and Ireland starts at the bottom of
this pageI only had a few days left so I spent a day in Dublin largely unimpressed, then took a bus to Galway on the west coast. From there I went on a tour bus to see the obvious attraction - Cliffs of Moher and walked the entire lenght of them. Plenty of birds soaring on the updraft at the edge of the cliffs (puffins mostly) so a long lens is useful. There were also some crazy americans playing golf as you can see on one of my photos. No, they weren't trying to hit birds
Next day was spent riding a bike on the island of Inishmore (largest of the Aran Islands) which was incredibly fun. If you do go there (or any other Aran island) remember to explore every side path imaginable. You can't get seriously lost because the islands are so small but you can definitely feel like you're the only one on the island.
I wish I had time to see more of Ireland or at least a car so I'd cover more of it but...next time perhaps. I heard Dingle peninsula has some stunning landscapes and you should definitely rent a car.
