rz67 lens prices
« on: November 08, 2010, 10:39:51 pm »

I have a couple of wide angle rz67 lenses I got recently for my back-up camera (with 120 back) and I'm now considering selling them.  With the release of the rz33, slowly lowering mfdb prices, and full frame dSLRs approaching maximum useful pixel densities, might these hold their value or even increase slightly in price as the mfdb market expands?  Or should I cut my losses?

I have a 50mm uld and 65mm m-la.  Right now I think they're worth about $300 apiece.

I know it's hard to prognosticate, but I can't make up my mind...  That and I really need a new tripod.

I think prices can be a bit higher than a year ago, I know that when I bought the RZ67ProII I bought a whole in new state kit for 950.00 US that was the RZ67ProII, WLF, Filmback, 110mm f2.8, try to do that now :D

Same with lenses, you can already see them going up, at the moment slightly but MAYBE it will be a bit more soon.

I know, seriously...  If I had a digital back these lenses would seem like a great deal to me, but I'm not buying a many-thousand-dollar back to justify $300 lenses...

From what I've seen lately the 50mm ULD is worth about $550, and the 65mm M/L-A is worth about $300.

50 ULD is worth at least $550, maybe as much as $650+ depending on condition.  $300-400 is about right for 65 L/A. Those are two of the more in-demand lenses on the RZ system.

Thanks everyone, the more I learn about the MFDB market the more it seems it's not going to be "cheap" for a while.  The prices cited here are not bad, but I doubt they will go up--so I may have to bite the bullet and sell most of my rz system, which I rarely use.

It makes me feel sad ditching it, though.  These are big, well-built lenses.  And I'll inevitably use the money to buy a tamron zoom or something....

I will rather keep looking at Rz lens than shoot with Tamron zoom. LOL
