Ayrshire Coast
« on: November 08, 2010, 08:10:04 pm »

Hi everyone.

I'm considering a trip to Ayrshire in the near future and aside from the Galloway Forest I'm interested in the coast in particular the southern part. Is it worthwhile or should I consider just staying within the Galloway Forest.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Thanks

Richard,
A visit to the lighthouse at Turnberry is worthwhile, as is the shore at Seamill, looking over to Arran, & the little harbour at Portencross.
Some of these locations can be found on my site at Alan Cameron Images under coast & loch gallery.

Alan

Hi

We filmed a TV programme for Ch. 4 (Country House Rescue series 1)near the Galloway Forest Park at a house called Black Clauchrie.  During that programme we were allowed privileged access to the Forestry Commission tracks in the forest.  This is really worthwhile as it takes you into some wonderful unknown areas.

You can stay at Black Clauchrie and Adrian may well be willing (for a fee) to drive you around the forest park in his land rover

They are nice people and this is a great location
